This means that your computer is expected to automatically go to sleep as soon as you have closed the lid, provided you have not altered the default settings. But, you may want to change the lid settings to suit your personal preferences. For example, you may want to prevent your computer from going into sleep mode each time you close the lid. You may also want to alter the power settings that apply to your computer once you close the lid.
Here are some steps that you can follow to easily alter the default settings that apply to your Mac Book Pro once the lid is closed. You can also follow these steps if you want to change what happens to the power settings of your computer once the lid is closed.
1. Check the requirements: In order to ensure the Mac Pro Book is in closed display mode (the mode the computer enters once the lid has been closed), certain requirements are supposed to be met. Make sure your computer meets all these requirements such as:
• Any external display, namely a secondary monitor or projector that is compatible with your Mac Book
• An AC power cable
• An external keyboard along with a mouse or an external keyboard that comes with a trackpad (any keyboard that is compatible with the Mac Pro Book irrespective of whether it is a wireless or USB type)
2. Enable the closed-display mode: To enable the closed display mode, make sure all the requirements stated above have been met. In an event that the external display you have connected to the computer is not recognized while your computer is still on, you can proceed to connect the display once the Mac is turned off or is asleep. Once this has been achieved, turn on the computer or wake it up from sleep.
3. Using a USB keyboard and a mouse: Make sure all the requirements stated in step 1 have been met. Connect your Mac Book to a power source. The next thing you have to do is connect your USB keyboard and mouse to your computer. This should be followed by connecting the external display (such as a projector or monitor) to the Mac Book.
4. Closing the computer’s lid: Once you have managed to connect the external display to the Mac Book, you simply have to wait for the desktop of your Mac Book to appear on the external display. Note that the external display may turn blue before showing the desktop of your Mac Book. Once the desktop has appeared on the external display, close the lid of your computer.
Using a wireless keyboard and mouse
The procedure mentioned above also works for the wireless keyboard and mouse. However, you are supposed to pair the Mac Book with the keyboard, using the Bluetooth wizard. Check the Bluetooth panel in ‘System Preferences’ to find out if the Bluetooth is turned on and proceed to pair your Mac Book with your wireless keyboard and mouse.
For additional preferences
In case you want to alter more settings in your Mac Book while the lid is closed, you may click the Apple icon and later on the preferences. You will come across different lid preferences to choose from.

Apple's new 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 Max processor is undeniably a powerhouse. Here's how it compares to Apple's Intel-based Mac Pro tower, and why folks that rely on that machine may need. The main method for scrolling on your MacBook Pro is to use the trackpad and the two-finger-touch-technique. I know that might sound like a Kung-Fu move (and it probably is) but this takes a lot less time to master. All you have to do is touch your trackpad with two fingers, move these fingers up or down, and you will be able to scroll through. But I never use Word for work I can do in Pages. All of the digital giants seem to pride themselves on giving you less and worse than they easily could, and Pages is no exception. If Open Office ever gets a decent interface, they'll get my business, but for now, Pages is the best step up from Google Docs for the user without special requirements.

I do not know how to get Google Docs for my MacBook Pro computer. They keep talking about the iPhone and the iPad but not the computer. When I go to the app store again it is for the above.

I know this is a (somewhat) older question but I had the same idea. I wanted all Google applications as dock icons and be able to use them outside the browser. The main reason for having the applications outside the browser was to gain some screen real-estate which is lost to tabs, address bar and bookmark bars when using the browser. The second main reason, for me, was to limit disturbances when working on docs. I want my doc to show and nothing else.
1) Open a tab for each Google application (you can also do this one-by-one but I find it more productive to do them all at once). So, in each tab you will open one of the below URL's:
docs.google.comsheets.google.comslides.google.com
keep.google.com2) Click the Chrome browser's 3-dot menu button - More Tools - Create Shortcut
!!! Make sure to select 'Open as window' before clicking Create on the pop-up !!!
After clicking Create, a Finder window should open the 'Chrome Apps' location. With the latest 'installed' app highlighted.
This step is a bit different for drive.google.com & photos.google.com: click the Chrome browser's 3-dot menu button - Install Google Drive or Install Google Photos - click install
3) Repeat this for each application you want to install.
Although I haven't tried to use these apps offline, I assume they will work for Google Drive docs you make available offline.,
